Since quite some time, we have been longing to go to a nice beach. The weather being moderate it seemed that the perfect time had come. Jyothi was excited and filled up her picnic basket in a gleeful of joy. Fruits, cakes, sodas and snacks - all set for her hubby to carry ;-). We also carried an extra back pack with towels, extra set of clothes and jackets, just in case it turns windy and chilly.
The best way to go to Newport beach is take 55 S which gets converted into Balboa Blvd, and keep going for a few miles until you see the state beach to your right. We got a good parking spot in a residential area and walked to the beach (about 200 yards). The weather was awesome and the beach was less crowded. We usually like to go to less populated beaches.
We had carried one small woven carpet which we laid down at a convenient spot. Used our backpack and the picnic basket to support it at the ends. Then without wasting a moment we set to build our castle and tunnels. Well, the best part was destroying them once they were ready !!! We had our Haldiram chewda for snack and some refreshing pepsi.
This beach has lots of basketball courts and places to skate around. We would love to come back to this beach with our friends for a days picnic and have fun. Click here for pics.
