This weekend, we visited Venice Beach. Though the beach is just a coule of miles south of the Santa Monica Pier, this was the first time Ashish and I were visiting it.
The buildings are very brightly colored. There are vendors on the streetwalk, selling everything from souveniers made from crushed soda cans to engravings made by burning wood using sun's rays, focused by a convex lens. And there are clearly marked spots on the sidewalk for these vendors!! The picture on the right shows a man making a san sculpture.
There were people from different cultures, entertaining others with thier antics - juggling, music, dancing, acrobatics, etc or just having a good time themselves. There's even a place on the beach where people can come and practice graffiti!!
All in all, Venice Beach is a very colorful place!
Directions:
(From LA downtown) Take 10 West and then 405 South. Exit at Venice Blvd and go west. You will reach the beach.
