This Memorial day, Ashish and I met up with his friends Keyur and Sameer, at Redding. Ashish and I left early Saturday morning from Pasadena and reached Redding around 4 in the evening. On the way, we picked up Sameer, at Folsom. Keyur and Kritika, drove down from Seattle.
In the evening, we went to the Sundial bridge over the Sacramento river. The bridge acts as a giant sundial and is very nice.
On Sunday, we visited the Lake Shasta Caverns. The whole area is very green and beautiful. We first took a boat ride on the Catamaran, across Lake Shasta, then a bus ride up to the caverns. The road is narrow and steep, but the weather was beautiful and the view, breathtaking. The caverns are a wonder of their own. The limestone formations that have taken hundreds of years to form are really amazing.
Before we knew it, it was Monday, and time to head back home. It was a nice weekend - filled with fun of hanging out with friends. Looking forward to meeting up again... hopefully in the LA area!!

Sundial Bridge : Very beautiful bridge. A must see attraction at Redding. It gets a little breezy, so it is recommendable to hold a light jacket, especially if you are visiting in the evening.(http://www.visitredding.org/sundial.cfm)
Lake Shasta Caverns: Amazing Caverns and beautiful area around the Shasta lake. There is a $20 entry fee which covers the boat ride, the bus ride and a 1 hour guided tour of the cavern. The entire thing takes about 2 hours. There are about 250 steps that take you through the cavern and another 250 that you have to climb on the way down, so wear comforatble shoes and carry water, especially in the summer!
